THE TITANIC AND THE LOST
                                                                                   The Titanic

The Titanic  story is a great picture for developing a worldview that will help
Christians understand current world events and the future. There are two main views to look at the world.

First, there is the view that the world is getting better. People believe that all we have to do is to put aside our differences, and unite to bring peace and justice upon the earth. All we need to do is elect a new Captain, and clean up the earth's ecological, political, and economical mess and "keep on sailing".
The Bible does comment on this view. It states,"There is a way
that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."
(Proverbs 16:25) The people on the Titanic thought that the ship was
"unsinkable". So it is today, people believe that the world is going to have a
utopia. They promise heath, wealth, and prosperity. However, these people fail
to realize that the world hit the "iceberg" of God's holy Law, so many years ago. It all happened in the Garden of Eden, and the world is sinking fast.

Thus, the second worldview comes from the Bible. The Bible says, "It is
appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement."  We have broken God's Laws, and are "slowly sinking into the cold grip of death." As with the passengers of the Titanic, only those who believe that they are in mortal danger will look to the "Lifeboat of the Savior, Jesus Christ". The Bible declares, "He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:18) Jesus Christ, the one whom the Bible calls the "Captain of our salvaltion" gave His life so that we could have a place in the life boat. We broke God's Law, but He paid our fine.

Finally, for those who remain on the ship, and think the world is "unsinkable". The Bible states, "For when they shall say, "Peace and safety; then sudden destruction come upon them,..., and they shall not escape." I Thes. 5:3. As Christians, we have a choice. We can think that the world is going to be fine. We can think that we will fix and clean this old boat and keep on sailing. Or, we can warn people, like John the Baptist, who said  "who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come?" Lets have a passion to reach the lost before the ship sinks. A passion like Charles Spurgeon, who said, " If sinners will be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions (efforts), and let not one go there
unwarned and unprayed for. "
