One World, One Dream by By Gary Glass (New)
One World, One Dream
Summers are busy! However, this summer, God showed me some
amazing insights in His word and in the world. The first one came
when my family went to Sea World in Orlando, Florida. We went to
see the killer whale, Shamu. I like to call him Shampoo. The title of
the show was called, " All things are possible, to those who believe." I thought that it was cool that they used a Bible verse for the show. However, God was never mentioned. Instead, the whole show was about putting aside our differences in the world to save planet earth. In the Bible, Jesus told His disciples that it was hard for a rich man to go to heaven. His disciples asked, "Who then can be saved?" Jesus replied, "With men this impossible; but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 When man tries to solve his own problems without God, then it is destined to fail. Man's biggest problem is sin. However, God provided a way so that all men and women, rich and poor, free and slave, could enter heaven by the blood of His cross.
The next thing God showed me was when Senator Obama gave his speech in Berlin. I really wanted to know what was all the fuss about, and perhaps know what was in his heart by the words he spoke. I was amazed; after I read the transcript. The Senator said,
" People of the world--look at Berlin, where a wall came down, a continent came together, and history proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one." The world is looking for a world leader to unite the nations and to fight the problems of the world like poverty, global warming, wars, terrorism, etc. He contnues, " No one nation, no matter how large or powerful, can defeat such challenges alone." He adds, " Partnership and cooperation among nations is not a choice, it is the one way, the only way, to protect our common security and advance our common humanity." However, there is a major problem to the plan for those who want to unite the world. Obama says, "That is why the greatest danger of all is to allow new walls to divide us from one another." He continues," The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christians and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down." Did you catch that?
One of the major problems that hinder the "advance (of) our common humanity" is religion. So, what is being done to unite religion? That article will be left for another time. However, the movement to unite religions has been going on for years. Leaders like the Pope, Dalai Lama, Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev, Tony Blair, and even Rick Warren are promoting a "social gospel". The "social gospel" is a effort to unite politics and religion to fight against the social problems of our world like poverty, racism, war, global warming, etc. The idea is to create a better world. The real gospel does not create a better world, but saves a sinner out of this world. The world we live in is about to be judged by God for sin. Thats why the Bible says, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world... And the world passes away, and the lust of it; but he that does the will of God abides forever." 1 John 2:15,17
Finally, the Olmpics is another stage to bring about this global unity. The term "One World, One dream" shows us that we are very close to a globalized world. So, we need to start watching toward the sky for our Lord. Keep looking up! "When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near." Luke 21:28
